TN Newsletter

Just a short newsletter this time… to let you know the Live at the Target CDs arrived just before Christmas and all pre-orders have now been sent out. A BIG thank you to all those of you who asked for a copy: we hope you like it as we think it’s come out rather well…

As yesterday (06.01.12) was the official release date for the album, I thought I’d remind you that I’ve got plenty of copies available for immediate dispatch if you want one. They are £11 plus postage (which is £1 for the UK, £2 elsewhere). More details are available from our web-site or in TN News – Dec 11.

Secondly as you probably know our gig as Jan 14 and the Cryptic Clues at The Peel in Kingston, Live at the Target : Live at the Peel is now only a week away, as it takes place on 14.01.12. Rehearsals have gone remarkably well – even though we’ve only had one day with all of us together!

On the night we will be playing 2 sets starting with the Live at the Target album (with a slight twist) followed by a selection of favourites from the 1981-1983 period. It should be a memorable night – for a variety of reasons – and we are delighted to say that our friend David Read is planning to film it for us for posterity!

Advance ticket sales have been very strong according to the promoter – but there are still plenty available – so why not reserve your tickets today.

We aim to start at 7:45pm with the 2nd set from about 9:00pm. Doors open at 7:30pm.

Further details and tickets from The House of Progression

We must stress that it is planned as a one-off gig, and will be made unique by some special things that we are planning. These will include a raffle and auction of TN memorabilia. Over to Clive…

‘There will be two interruptions to the Jan Fourteen show. First will be an Auction of memorabilia including Geoff Mann’s own Live At The Target T-shirt and his home made CND T-shirt seen at The Reading Festival 83 and many other gigs. Next there will be an Indian Restaurant themed Raffle with quality prizes..!

All of the proceeds from both of these interruptions will go to the charity “Unique” – the Rare Chromosome Disorder Support Group. Benefitting the same charity we will also have original un-played vinyl copies* of Live At The Target on sale.

*These are original 1980’s pressings carefully stored in my garage all these years for just such an occasion! About half-a-dozen of them have sleeves signed by all 4 of us at the time.

As we realise many of you might be interested in the main auction items, and as we wouldn’t want to prevent you from having the chance to own a little bit of ‘TN’ history – we are happy to invite bids from any of you who are unable to get to the show. To do this you will need to email me with your maximum bid by midnight on Friday 13th January.

If we add any more exciting/unique items during the next few days – we will circulate a final list by next Weds 11th – but for now they are: –

  1. Geoff Mann’s ‘Live at the Target’ T-shirt – kindly donated by Jane Mann.
  2. Geoff’s home-made CND T-shirt as pictured on the Reading Rock 83 DVD cover – kindly donated by me and Andy Welsh.
  3. An original unworn T-shirt from the XII era – White, size Small.
  4. An original copy of Live at the Target on vinyl singed by all 4 original members plus Dean & Mark. We will reserve 2 of these for the on-line auction.
  5. A copy of Play On signed by Andy Sears, Rev, Clive, Mark, Dean, Jane Mann, (author) Andy Wild & me. Again we will reserve 2 copies for the on-line auction.

That’s all for now – next time we’ll carry some reviews of the gig and the album (do let us know if you come across any) and details of the next releases etc. So until then…
